FAQs

An Employer of Record (EOR) is a third-party organization that hires and pays an employee on behalf of another company and takes responsibility for all formal employment tasks.

Using an Employer of Records allows companies to legally and efficiently engage with overseas workers either in a new country or state, without having to set up a local entity or risk violating local employment laws.

R&D’s payroll department sends a quarterly statutory report, which includes approved payroll sheets and ERCA (Ethiopian revenue and customs authority) invoices.

Passport of the visa applicant which is valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of entry to Ethiopia.
Official application letter written by the inviting organization (Prosource outsourcing service) and addressed to the Immigration, Nationality and Vital Events Agency of Ethiopia.
Business license of the inviting company
Taxpayer Identification Number(TIN) Certificate of the inviting company
Contractual agreement between the inviting company and the visa applicant.

Probation period shall not exceed 60 working days beginning from the first date of employment. 45 days is most commonly used probation period.

Recent passport-size photo of the employee.
Passport of the visa applicant which is valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of entry to Ethiopia.
Official application letter written by the inviting organization (Prosource outsourcing service) and addressed to the Immigration, Nationality and Vital Events Agency of Ethiopia.
Business license of the inviting company
Taxpayer Identification Number(TIN) Certificate of the inviting company
Contractual agreement between the inviting company and the visa applicant.

Recent 4 passport-size photo of the applicant.
Passport and entry visa copy of the applicant
Official application letter written by the inviting organization and addressed ministry of labor and social affairs
Business license of the inviting company
Taxpayer Identification Number(TIN) Certificate of the inviting company
Contractual agreement between the inviting company and the visa applicant. (Including CV and work experience letter) 
Authenticated Education certificate of the employee, at Ethiopian Embassy in the country of his/her residence. – more authentication is done at ministry of foreign affairs in Ethiopia.
Support letter regarding the onboarding of the employee, from relevant government office.

A work permit support letter is granted by a relevant government office related to the worker’s sector of employment. These can be either the Ethiopian investment commission or an office of Ethiopian government that contracted the employer for the work/project the expat will be involved in.
